At Heartbeat Midwifery, we believe that training future midwives is one of the most powerful ways to strengthen the natural birth community. Since opening our doors, we've had the privilege of mentoring dozens of student midwives who have gone on to serve families across Texas and beyond.
Heartbeat is built on a foundation of client choice and safety. With more than 1,000 deliveries in Lubbock, our record speaks for itself—demonstrating that safe, evidence-based care and client autonomy go hand in hand. This same philosophy shapes how we train our students: combining strong clinical skill with deeper qualities that define truly exceptional care through calm presence, integrity, respect for client choice, and collaboration within a team.

Originally from New York with Caribbean roots, I began as a teacher passionate about supporting families before spending the last five years in birthwork as a doula. Seeing the challenges in maternal care pushed me to be the change I want to see by helping build a system that truly nurtures and protects mothers. Midwifery is the next step in my journey to serve families and uplift communities.

Our Clinical Director, Carmen Geyman, LM, CPM, also teaches advanced courses in breech birth, twin delivery, and suturing skills—extending Heartbeat's reach and helping midwives worldwide provide safer, more compassionate care.
