Our Encapsulation Methods

Every encapsulation begins with our base method and $200 fee. From there, you can choose an optional add-on to tailor the process to what feels right for you.

Base Method

Raw Dehydration

Our standard method, included in the base fee. Your placenta is rinsed and placed directly into a dehydrator for 12–24 hours, then ground into a fine powder and placed into vegetarian, plant-based capsules.

Add-On

Freeze-Dried

Widely considered the gold standard for placenta preservation. Your placenta is frozen and dehydrated under deep vacuum at extremely low temperatures, gently removing moisture while keeping its natural structure and sensitive compounds intact.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Your placenta is thoroughly rinsed and lightly steamed with organic herbs, which may reduce bacteria and enhance nutrient digestibility. Often recommended for clients who are GBS+ or if the placenta has come into contact with meconium.

Lemon, for brightness and gentle cleansing
Mild chili pepper, for gentle warmth and energy

Blended in after dehydration

What to Expect

Once your baby has arrived, we take care of the rest. Here's how the process works from birth to your finished capsules.

We collect your placenta at your home or birth center birth. For hospital births, keep it on ice in a cooler and deliver it to us within 48 hours of birth.
Your placenta is prepared using your chosen method, then dehydrated and ground into a fine powder.
The powder is placed into vegetarian, plant-based capsules. Whole processing can take up to 7 business days.
You pick up your finished capsules from Heartbeat Midwifery during normal business hours.

Delivering a Hospital Placenta

If you birth at a hospital, a little coordination keeps your placenta safe for encapsulation:

Keep it on ice in a cooler and deliver within 48 hours of birth.
Drop off at Heartbeat Midwifery, 419 Raleigh Ave., Lubbock, TX 79416.
Text (806) 642-7326 with your name before drop-off. In limited cases, our staff may coordinate pickup from the hospital.
